GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Gaza’s Health Ministry says Israeli troops have killed two Palestinians along the Israel-Gaza border.

Ministry spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said Thursday the two men were shot in the Israeli-enforced buffer zone near the frontier.

The military said troops opened fire at two men trying to cross the border fence into Israel on Wednesday.

It was not immediately known if they were militants or civilians.

None of Gaza’s militant groups claimed the men as members.

Violence in the Hamas-ruled territory has dropped since Israel’s Gaza offensive two years ago, but rocket fire and border clashes have continued.
