NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Frank Hassell scored 16 points, making all seven of his field-goal attempts, as Old Dominion defeated Northeastern 49-34 on Wednesday night.
Trian Iliadis added 11 points, and also was perfect from the field, going 4 for 4 overall and 3 for 3 on 3-pointers, as the Monarchs (11-3, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) won their sixth of seven. Kent Bazemore added a career-high 11 assists.
Blaine Taylor became Old Dominion’s winningest men’s coach with his 199th career victory at the school, surpassing Bud Metheny.
Though the Huskies committed only three more turnovers than Old Dominion (15-12), the Monarchs scored 22 points off Northeastern’s turnovers while the Huskies scored only three points off Old Dominion’s.
Jonathan Lee had 11 points for Northeastern (4-10, 0-3) and was the only player in double figures for a team that dropped its fourth in a row.
