Murray State defeats Tennessee State 64-53

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Donte Poole scored 16 points and Murray State defeated Tennessee State 64-53 on Thursday night for its sixth straight win.

The Racers (10-4, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference) scored 17 points off of 16 turnovers, 37 off the bench, 15 on second chances and 30 points in the paint.

Leading 18-13 with 6:33 left in the first half, Murray State went on a 12-2 run to go up 30-15 on Ed Daniel’s free throws with 2:04 remaining until halftime.

The Racers held Tennessee State, which lost its fourth straight, to just 5 of 17 from the field in the first half (29.4 percent) and led 35-19 at the break.

Isacc Miles scored 12 points for the Racers on 4 of 4 from 3-point range and 6 of 7 from the field.

Murray State led by as many as 23, 60-37, on Poole’s layup with 4:30 left in the game.

Kenny Moore led the Tigers (6-9, 3-2) with 16 points and Patrick Miller added 10.
