LONDON (AP) — Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has cast doubt on the likelihood of signing David Beckham on loan, saying he wouldn’t be fit to play a Premier League match until the end of January.
Beckham has begun a monthlong training stint with the Spurs, who have been in negotiations with the Los Angeles Galaxy about signing him on loan until March.
Redknapp said Friday that Beckham is still two weeks away from full fitness and suggests it may not be worth adding him to the squad for such a short time.
Redknapp added he never intended to play Beckham against former club Manchester United on Sunday.
