BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) — Bellevue police say the van that burst into fire burning three people had an open bucket of gasoline inside.

One of the three told investigators they were having trouble keeping the van running Wednesday so they were using a water bottle to transfer gas from the bucket to the engine, which could be reached from the front seats on that model.

The van filled with fumes and exploded after it stalled and they tried to restart it.

The fire burned a woman and two men, all Bellevue residents, who are being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
