KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel has been added to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl.
The Chiefs announced the move Thursday and said he will replace New England’s Tom Brady, who is reportedly having foot surgery this week to repair a stress fracture.
It will be the first Pro Bowl for Cassel, who started 15 games last season for the AFC West champions, completing 262 of 450 passes for 3,116 yards with a career-high 27 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. He missed a game following an appendectomy.
Cassel will join teammates Dwayne Bowe, Jamaal Charles and Brian Waters on the AFC squad in the Jan. 30 game in Honolulu.
