MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Jackson County is considering the purchase of a four-story U.S. Postal Service building in downtown Medford that would centralize all the county’s health and human services agencies.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports the building could house 750 county and state employees.

The building is being offered for $3.3 million. The county assessor’s office puts the building’s worth at $2 million.

County Administrator Danny Jordan says the money to buy the building would come from the county’s health and human services budget.

The county’s health services operations are outgrowing their facilities and will need more offices if the new building isn’t purchased.

The federal government put building up for sale as part of its consolidation of postal service operations throughout the country.
