The Citadel rolls past Western Carolina 68-46

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Cameron Wells scored 27 points to lead The Citadel to a 68-46 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday night.

Wells also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Bulldogs (8-13, 4-5 Southern Conference), who have won three straight games.

The Citadel shot 67.9 percent from the field (19 of 28) in the first half to take a 43-15 lead into halftime. Western Carolina shot 21.7 percent during that time (5 of 23), including 1 of 9 from the 3-point line (11.1 percent).

The Bulldogs twice led by 30 points — with 50 seconds left in the first half and with 18:56 left in the game.

Western Carolina (8-12, 4-4) closed to 16 on Mike Williams’ three-point play with 6:55 to play.

Mike Groselle added 15 points and Austin Dahn had 13 for the Bulldogs, who easily won despite committing 20 turnovers.

Harouna Mutombo led the Catamounts with 13 points.
