ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have activated right-hander Tommy Hunter from the disabled list and designated right-handed reliever Dave Bush for assignment.

Hunter will be available Friday out of the Texas bullpen. He has started all but one game in 45 major league appearances.

Hunter was supposed to be a starter this season, but injured his groin just hours after the Rangers announced their rotation during the last week of spring training.

He made seven appearances at Triple-A Round Rock and was throwing his fastball in the mid-90s in a relief appearance Thursday night.

Bush was 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 17 games for the Rangers. They have 10 days to trade, release or outright him to the minor leagues.
