CHICAGO (AP) — Umpires changed what was initially ruled a triple hit by Eric Hosmer in the ninth inning to a game-tying home run after a video review in Monday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

With the Royals trailing 4-3 in the ninth, Hosmer led off with what appeared to be a home run off White Sox closer Sergio Santos.

The ball appeared to clear the center-field wall but hit a railing on the side ricocheting the ball back onto the field.

Second base umpire Alfonso Marquez signaled the ball was in play as Hosmer advanced to third.

Royals manager Ned Yost contested the call, and the umpire reviewed it.

Moments after the review, Marquez signaled a home run.
