OTTAWA (AP) — The Ottawa Senators added some muscle by signing tough guy Zenon Konopka to a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old center spent last season with the New York Islanders, registering two goals, seven assists and a league-high 307 penalty minutes.
Konopka also ranked fourth in the NHL with a 57.7 per cent faceoff success rate.
He has played 195 career games with Anaheim, Columbus, Tampa Bay and the Islanders and scored eight goals, with 14 assists and 684 penalty minutes.
Konopka spent his entire junior career with the Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s.
