SHAW ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Coast Guard says a crab boat with seven people on board ran aground on rocks near Shaw Island in the San Juan Islands, about 70 miles northwest of Seattle.

Petty Officer Jacob Mansga in Seattle says it was notified early Friday just after midnight.

He says a San Juan County sheriff’s boat picked up the seven and took them to Friday Harbor. Six were injured and two were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The 22-foot vessel is on rocks and did not sink. A Coast Guard vessel did not find a fuel spill.

Washington Ecology Department spokesman Seth Preston says it is responding to check out the possibility of a spill.
