OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Police say a premature baby found in a restroom trash can at a Washington hospital is in stable condition.
But Detective Brenda Anderson says it remains to be seen whether the boy will have developmental complications from oxygen deprivation.
The baby was blue with the umbilical cord around his neck when a nurse found him Tuesday in a trash can at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was later transported to a Tacoma hospital.
The Olympian reports the mother, 23-year-old Jasmine Marie Ritchey, is jailed on $50,000 bail for investigation of attempted murder and child abandonment.
