ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s office has identified a 23-year-old Granite Falls man whose body was recovered Sunday from the Stillaguamish River near Arlington.

Spokesman Rebecca Hover said Monday it’s unclear how long Colt White had been in the river but decomposition suggests it may have been weeks.

She says White was reportedly the last person to see 41-year-old Angela Gilbert, of Granite Falls, who has been missing since June. Hover says Gilbert went for a hike with White. He returned and says she continued by herself.

Hover says detectives never had a chance to talk to him about Gilbert.

Detectives are treating White’s case as a death investigation because the cause of his death is still pending.
