ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — The ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum in southern Oregon has hired a professional museum director for the first time since it opened a decade ago in Ashland.

The Ashland Daily Tidings reports that Chip Lindsey took the helm of ScienceWorks earlier this month.

Lindsey has nearly three decades of experience in science museums and came to Oregon from Amarillo, Texas, where he was deputy director for the Don Harrington Discovery Center.

The bulk of Lindsey’s experience was gained at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, where he worked his way up the ladder for 24 years until he became vice president of exhibits and programs.

ScienceWorks co-founder Sharon Javna said she was pleased the museum was able to attract someone as accomplished as Lindsey.
