Letters: Are the Bears like the Mariners?

If the Yakima Bears are anything like the Seattle Mariners, then I, for one, am not interested in them coming to Vancouver.

Professional baseball players are, for the most part, a sorry group. On July 22 in Boston, our Mariners looked like a very poor Little League team. Jack Cust was at the plate, the Red Sox infield was pulled way around to the right, the second baseman was playing short right field, the shortstop was playing in the second baseman’s position and the third baseman was playing as if he were a shortstop. Any Little League batter would have laid down a bunt along the third base line. Not Cust; he swung and missed at three pitches that were down and out of the strike zone.

If the Bears are anything like the Mariners, let them stay in Yakima or wherever they would like to be.
