AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Kevin Lusson hit a three-run homer and Texas cruised to a 9-3 win over Kent State on Sunday night to force a deciding game in the Austin Regional.
The Longhorns (46-16) and Golden Flashes (45-16) will play again Monday, with the winner advancing to the super regionals.
Texas scored three runs in the first, and led 6-3 before Lusson — whose single won it against Texas State earlier in the day — sealed it with his homer in the ninth.
Kent State scored twice in the third thanks to two errors by Texas.
With two outs, Nathan Thornhill (3-0) came on in relief of starter Hoby Milner and allowed one run and three hits in 3 2-3 innings of relief. David Starn (9-3) took the loss.
