Homebuilding picked up slightly in unincorporated Clark County in May, according to a report that tracks permits issued for single-family homes.

The county’s Department of Community Development handed out 34 permits to build houses in May. That marks a 17 percent gain over the 29 permits issued in the same month last year and is up eight permits from April.

Housing permits in May were valued at $11 million, up from $10 million in the same month last year, the development department said.
