LOS ANGELES (AP) — Steve Garvey has added Orel Hershiser to the group he’s assembling with the goal of buying a professional sports franchise, possibly the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The two former Dodgers stars have joined forces under the banner of the Garvey-Hershiser Group.
Garvey said this week that Hershiser not only is a baseball expert, but he’s an astute businessman, and that’s the kind of person Garvey wants to bring into his group.
The Dodgers aren’t for sale, although Major League Baseball is running the team’s day-to-day business operations while looking into the club’s finances under owner Frank McCourt.
