SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane-area woman was injured by a mortar explosion in Afghanistan in 2009 while working as a private contractor is now having trouble receiving therapy she needs for her injuries.

The Spokesman-Review reports doctors say 40-year-old Jennifer Barcklay of Chattaroy needs treatment for seizures, memory loss, headaches, tremors and trouble balancing.

At the time of her injury she was a civilian repairing helicopters for Blackwater, now known as Xe Services. It has private insurance. Although her doctors say Barcklay needs help, a doctor for the insurance company who reviewed her case without seeing her wrote she did not need inpatient rehabilitation.

Barcklay has a lawyer to continue fighting for medical care.
