DETROIT (AP) — A woman finally got her chance to celebrate her 104th birthday by seeing the Detroit Tigers play in person.

The ballclub was to host Mary Johnson at Comerica Park May 15 but the game was rained out. Instead, she celebrated at Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners. The Detroit Free Press reports Tigers great Al Kaline, one of Johnson’s favorite players, visited her.

The faithful Tigers fan watched the game from a suite and says: “It’s beautiful. I couldn’t say another word.” The Mariners won 7-3, but Johnson was pleased to be there.

She grew up in Henderson, Ky., and moved to Detroit in 1936. Johnson, whose birthday was May 10, came to visit her brother and never left.
