STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — More than a decade after last meeting on the football field, Penn State and Pittsburgh will renew their rivalry with a home-and-home series for the 2016 and 2017 series.

Pitt will host the Nittany Lions at Heinz Field on Sept. 10, 2016. The next year, the Panthers will face Penn State in State College on Sept. 16, 2017.

The two schools last played each other on Sept. 16, 2000, with the Panthers winning 12-0 at Three Rivers Stadium.

The two schools first played each other in 1893 and played every season from 1900-1931 and from 1935-1992. Four more games were played from 1997-2000. Penn State has 50-42-4 series advantage.
