BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — It’s time for Graeme McDowell to start looking forward again.
McDowell spoke Tuesday about his year as U.S. Open champion. He says he’ll never be able to match the feeling of winning his first major, but that he’s spent the last 12 months looking back at that special day at Pebble Beach.
He says a “weight had been lifted” off his shoulders now that he’s arrived at Congressional Country Club to defend his title. McDowell says he’s ready to get on with the rest of his career.
Last year he became the first European in 40 years to win the U.S. Open.
The tournament begins Thursday.
