Socks is a 3-year-old American pit bull terrier and boxer mix. He came to the shelter as a stray. He needs to go to a family with a fully fenced yard to keep him safe. If you have any female dogs or children at home, bring them in to make friends first. Socks will also need to go to a home with no cats.

Mo Jo is a 10-year-old domestic shorthair brown tabby with some white. He came to the shelter as a stray. Mo Jo would like a slow introduction to any other pets he might be living with, so he has time to acclimate. He would prefer a home with children older than age 14 as he does not like to be held a lot.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
