BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi police say a roadside bomb has exploded near a French Embassy convoy traveling through downtown Baghdad.

Police officials said that four Iraqi guards working for a private security company employed by the embassy were wounded in the blast Monday morning. Three bystanders were also injured.

A hospital official confirmed the casualties.

It was not immediately known whether any French expatriate staff were in the convoy when the bomb exploded.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
