Moore, Brown, Reid finalists for Honda Award

NEW YORK (AP) — Connecticut basketball star Maya Moore, Penn State volleyball player Blair Brown and Villanova cross country and track standout Sheila Reid are the finalists for the Honda-Broderick Cup.

They were chosen among the 12 winners of the Honda Awards for excellence in academics and sports.

Moore led UConn to four straight Final Four appearances and two NCAA titles in her college career.

Brown helped the Nittany Lions win their fourth straight NCAA title, registering 18 kills in the championship game.

Reid was the NCAA outdoor champion at 1,500 and 5,000 meters, becoming the first woman to win both events in the same year.

They are eligible for Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year honor. The Honda-Broderick Cup will be awarded June 27 at Columbia University in New York.
