PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A Kennewick, Wash., man has been sentenced to more than 67 years in prison for fatally shooting a Pasco, Wash., father and critically wounding the man’s wife in 2008.

Ramon Garcia-Morales was sentenced Tuesday in Franklin County Superior Court. Jurors earlier this month convicted the 31-year-old man of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault and firearms charges.

The Tri-City Herald reports that 42-year-old Alfredo Garcia was killed in a confrontation at his home. His wife, Maria Ramirez de Garcia, was also shot. She is now paralyzed and must use a wheelchair.

A trial for a second man charged in the case is on hold while he undergoes competency treatment at Eastern State Hospital.
