Walla Walla Penitentiary easing stabbing lockdown

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Penitentiary has eased the lockdown on mental health units where inmates were restricted after a stabbing.

The inmate accused of Tuesday’s attack, 28-year-old Marcus Van Cleary, remains in segregation.

The Union-Bulletin reports the corrections officer who was stabbed in the face with a ball point pen has been released from a hospital. Two other officers and another inmate who were injured while trying to help also were treated.
