HAZEL DELL — What do Bigfoot and George Washington have in common? Derek Sullivan. Or more specifically, a travel poster designed by Sullivan, a 2000 Columbia River High School graduate.

During high school, Sullivan liked to draw and wanted to be an animator. He moved from Hazel Dell, where he grew up, to Seattle to attend animation school. He then transferred to Western Washington University to get a degree in graphic design. Sullivan is now a freelance illustrator and graphic designer out of Seattle and sells his work online.

He created this particular poster for his own amusement, he said, because he “thought it was funny to imagine Washington as a fantastical place with Bigfoot and George Washington hanging out together.”

You can see more of his work at http://www.dpsullivan.etsy.com.
