EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon bakery has seen explosive growth since building a marketing strategy around the story of a former violent felon turned bread maker.

Revenues for Milwaukie, Ore.-based Nature Bake have jumped since it launched Dave’s Killer Bread and a line of products around ex-con Dave Dahl. He’s the brother of company CEO Glenn Dahl.

Dave Dahl began working for the bakery after serving time in prison for burglary, armed robbery and other crimes. He now travels the Northwest telling his story and marketing his popular bread.

Nature Bake products are distributed to big chains throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and other Western states.
