ISLAMABAD (AP) — The leader of a powerful anti-Taliban militia is threatening to withdraw its support for the Pakistan government after a deadly suicide bombing by insurgents on its supporters.
Dilawar Khan said Thursday he is demanding more support from the state after the bombing in northwest Pakistan.
His threat to stop working with the government highlights the risks Pakistan is taking by reaching out to private militias with questionable loyalties in its struggle against the Taliban.
Khan spoke at the funeral of one of the at least 36 people killed in Wednesday’s bombing in Peshawar.
