DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say two U.S. missile strikes have killed five suspected militants in a tribal region along the Afghan border.
The two officials say the first strike involved two missiles hitting a vehicle carrying three militants Friday in Spinwam village in the North Waziristan tribal region.
A half hour later, a second pair of missiles hit two other militants on foot in the same area. The two were apparently retrieving the bodies left by the first strike.
The officials spoke on condition on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media on the record.
North Waziristan is home to several militant groups focused on battling Western forces across the border in Afghanistan.
