LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Concerns over the earthquake and tsunami in Japan are weighing on participants in Japanese Culture Week events in Longview.
A moment of silence was held Sunday before the performances, workshops and lessons began.
Organizer Michael Cheney told The Daily News that the Columbia Theatre staff debated postponing the event but decided to push ahead to raise awareness and assist in relief efforts.
One of the displays at the event is a Red Cross booth with emergency preparedness information.
