BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — Baker County’s first wind farm is scheduled to be under construction in July and to start producing electricity in November.

The Baker City Herald reports the $7 million Lime Wind project will produce 3 megawatts of power. Idaho Power Co. is to buy the electricity.

The wind farm is on federal land north of Huntington, which is near the state’s eastern border.

It will consist of six turbines.

The project is owned by Joseph Millworks Inc. Randy Joseph of Sumpter says the project was delayed by the recession.
