LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge is expected to decide whether a paralyzed woman who can’t eat, speak or move is entitled to regular parental visitation rights with her three young children.

Abbie Dorn of Myrtle Beach, S.C., was paralyzed by a series of medical errors as she was giving birth to triplets in June 2006 in a Los Angeles hospital.

Since then, the children’s father has divorced her and is raising them alone at his Los Angeles home. Dan Dorn says he believes his ex-wife is unaware of her surroundings and that having 4-year-olds spend extensive time with their mother would only traumatize them.

Superior Court Judge Frederick C. Shaller is expected to rule Thursday after hearing closing arguments from attorneys for both sides.
