HOUSTON (AP) — The astronaut husband of wounded congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords says he hopes she can attend his shuttle launch next month.
Shuttle commander Mark Kelly told reporters Thursday that there’s “a pretty good chance” she’ll be there when he blasts into orbit.
He says she wants to attend the launch and they are awaiting final approval from her doctors.
Kelly says his wife is doing remarkably well and improving every day.
Kelly and his crew met with journalists at Johnson Space Center in Houston to discuss their upcoming shuttle flight. It’s the next-to-last mission before the fleet is retired this year.
