BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — The USS John Stennis is heading back to Southern California waters Thursday to qualify pilots for carrier landings and takeoffs.
The Navy says the Stennis will return to Puget Sound briefly next month then depart on a seven-week training trip to certify for deployment.
The Kitsap Sun reports the aircraft carrier is scheduled to leave this summer for a seven-month deployment to support the war in Afghanistan.
