Letter: God condemns gay marriage

Toni Jacobson, in an April 17 letter, “Gay marriage: What’s the big deal?” failed to provide any evidence of relevant life experience that would lend veracity to her statement “Gay people are just like you and me except ….” The word “except” means they are not just like you and me, especially from the divine point of view. Romans 5:12 says all men are born spiritually corrupted. This is why Romans 2:1 warns to not judge homosexuals, for it says that we who claim we are Christians have “done the same things.” God does not respect a person for the quality of their sins. Jesus Christ paid the price for all sins, although Romans 1:21 says that the result of acting upon homosexual desire is the beginning of self-destruction of a person’s ability to make sound moral judgements.

Genesis 1:27 says God “created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” What God built from Adam’s rib was most definitely not another man. The powerful image of deliberate and distinct creation by God of male and female “in the image and likeness of God,” sealed by God in marriage for the fulfillment of a godly purpose annuls all possibility of gay marriage.
