Letter: A long re-election season is ahead

The campaign season is in full swing (yawn). The mostly last straw occurred one evening while I was watching the Blazer game. Michelle Obama appeared on a TV commercial extolling the virtues of exercise. A noble cause for sure, but once again we have someone from the current administration in the national media in front of all of us.

Both Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, were on the cover of Parade magazine. I’m not sure what the message was; I didn’t read it. Again, the media ratchets up their assistance to re-election.

And finally, we have the commander in chief appearing on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Oh my, 18 months before Election Day 2012, and the president is nervous enough to stoop to Oprah? (I’m sure the trip to her studios with accompanying Secret Service and local police was covered by his campaign dollars rather than put the burden on the lowly taxpayers, right?)

I can’t wait for the next segment in this saga.
