ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) — Prosecutors in northwestern Oregon are charging a former sheriff’s deputy with sexually abusing his daughter.

Columbia County District Attorney Stephen Atchison said Monday that a 47-year-old man will be arraigned on charges of rape, sodomy, sexual abuse and incest. Atchison says the victim is the deputy’s 22-year-old daughter. Atchison declined to talk in detail about the allegations against the deputy before the arraignment.

Authorities say the defendant was a Columbia County sheriff’s deputy until about one year ago. Prosecutors expect to present their case to a grand jury on Thursday.

The DA’s office was uncertain whether the deputy has an attorney. The Associated Press does not publish the names sexual assault victims and is not releasing the deputy’s name to avoid identifying his daughter.
