An allegedly drunken driver crashed a car into a tanning salon in a Hazel Dell shopping center about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday and was arrested, officials said.

The shopping center is at 7604 N.E. Fifth Ave., near the intersection of 78th Street and Hazel Dell Ave.

The driver, Brenda Orr, 30, of Vancouver was taken to the jail on suspicion of DUI, said Sgt. Chad Rothenberger with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Orr was the only person in the car, a maroon Toyota Corolla, and wasn’t reported injured, nor was anyone else.

Two employees of SunsUP tanning were inside when the car crashed through the front glass and hit a stand-up tanning bed, but weren’t hurt, said Dawn Johnson, spokeswoman for Fire District 6.

“A water pipe was broken during the crash. Firefighters had the natural gas shut off just in case a gas line was also damaged. Technical rescue team members responded to evaluate the stability of the damaged structure. There appeared to be no instability,” Johnson said in a bulletin.
