SEATTLE (AP) — A terminally ill Seattle-area woman has finally reached her native South Korea, after one airline refused her passage over concern that she might die en route.

KING-TV reports that Crystal Kim and her daughter Mimi received a warm welcome from relatives Friday when they arrived at Incheon Airport in Seoul.

KING says the older woman has stage four breast cancer and wanted to spend her remaining time in her native country.

The pair had tickets on Korean Air last Sunday, but KING says the airline refused to take them, citing concern that Crystal Kim might die in flight and potentially traumatize other passengers. The station says international rules give Korean Air the right to deny passengers based on medical reasons.

Delta Airlines agreed to take the Kims, even upgrading them to first class.
