2 Western Wash. jazz bands in Ellington finals

SEATTLE (AP) — Two Western Washington jazz bands are in the top three at the Essentially Ellington festival in New York City.

The Seattle Times reports the bands from Seattle’s Roosevelt High and Mountlake Terrace High made it into the finals Saturday afternoon.

Roosevelt High has won the competition three times previously, and Mountlake Terrace High placed third in 2005. The other high school in the top three is Dillard, from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla

Essentially Ellington is presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center.
