OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — Military families far away from base will have another way to get help in Clackamas County now that a one-stop center for military and their families has opened in Oregon City.

The Army Strong Community Center on the Clackamas Community College campus offers the same kind of help available on a military base, such as navigating government benefits, education, legal help and child care.

The center opened Saturday also aims to connect caring community members and businesses with those who need their help.

Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz says Clackamas Community College was picked to house the center because of its commitment to serve veterans and military families. The college already has a Veterans Education and Training Center and offers credit for military experience and support for vets who have a small business. In addition, the school is creating a scholarship for military families.
