WACO, Texas (AP) — Dallas Baptist’s Jason Krizan had his school-record 39-game hitting streak stopped Tuesday night when he went 0 for 4 with a walk in a 7-1 loss to Baylor.
Krizan’s streak was the 11th-longest in NCAA Division I history. He had a chance to extend it in the ninth inning, but flied out to center for the final out.
He last went hitless on March 8 against Washington State.
Oklahoma State’s Robin Ventura holds the Division I mark, hitting in 58 straight in 1987. Florida International’s Garrett Wittels had his 56-game streak end this season when he went hitless in the team’s opener.
Krizan, a senior outfielder from Pflugerville, Texas, broke the Division I single-season doubles record last week. He has 37, one more than the previous record.
