SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Police believe a 77-year-old transient is responsible for two break-ins this week at consignment shops in downtown Salem.

Police say public works employees heard breaking glass about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and saw the man next to a broken window.

Officers responded and arrested the suspect. They believe he also kicked in a window the day before at another business.

The Statesman Journal reports he has a criminal record of at least five burglary convictions.
