JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — The court-martial of an Army sergeant accused of killing three Afghan civilians is expected to run until Friday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Calvin Gibbs of Billings, Mont., has pleaded not guilty to 16 charges including murder.
Prosecutors say he was the highest-ranking member of a team that killed three unarmed men early last year in Afghanistan and then dropped weapons near the bodies to make them appear to be combatants.
