NEW YORK (AP) — The women’s basketball season gets underway Friday with 14 ranked games, including No. 1 Baylor and second-ranked Notre Dame hosting home games in the preseason WNIT.

The Lady Bears and Irish aren’t expected to have too much trouble in their openers against Howard and Akron, respectively. The marquee matchup of the day is fifth-ranked Stanford visiting No. 24 Texas. Other top games on opening day included Michigan State facing Villanova in the Iona tournament. Wildcats coach Harry Perretta enters his 34th season at the school, two wins short of 600 victories.

Iona topped North Carolina A&T 85-69 in the opener that began at 11:11 a.m.
