LA GRANDE, Ore. (AP) — A woman who won reversal of her conviction in a 2007 fight that ended in the deaths of two men in Eastern Oregon has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and been released.
The La Grande Observer reports (http://bit.ly/u8waa1 ) that 64-year-old Donna Dunning pleaded guilty last week to third-degree assault, was sentenced to 12 months and then was released because she’d already served three years in prison.
In September, the Oregon Court of Appeals overturned her conviction on charges of attempted murder and second-degree assault. It said improper testimony was allowed in the trial.
Authorities say the fight on a northern Wallowa County ranch began with an argument over cattle.
