WASHOUGAL, Wash. (AP) — Southwest Washington fire officials say a woman has been found dead after a Tuesday afternoon apartment fire.

Family friends tell The Columbian that the victim was a 28-year-old Washougal woman. She was not immediately identified by name.

Camas Fire Chief Nick Swinhart says fire crews arrived at a four-unit apartment building to find flames coming out of an upper-story window. He says firefighters brought the blaze under control before it could reach the rest of the building.

The woman’s body was found in the second-floor apartment.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
